Yamazaki 18 Year Old Mizunara 2017 Limited Edition is a Japanese single malt whisky matured in Mizunara oak and bottled at 48% ABV. This special release showcases the distinctive character of Japanese oak and Yamazaki’s experience with long maturation.
Created by Suntory Chief Blender Shinji Fukuyo, the 2017 edition brings together whiskies aged at least 18 years, with some components exceeding 50 years. Its character reflects the careful selection of mature Mizunara casks.
Suntory’s tasting notes describe fragrant wood and cinnamon on the nose, followed by a silky palate with dried fruit, coconut and orange marmalade. The finish carries lingering spice and Japanese incense.
The presentation also celebrates Japanese craftsmanship. The label is made from handcrafted Echizen mulberry paper, while the wooden box is crafted from cask material previously used to mature Suntory whisky.
